On Saturday, April 6th, 10 am to 1 pm at the East Community Center in Littleton, Colorado, an estate planning attorney, Alex Kirven, will lead us in a workshop to inform us on the importance of estate planning.
In short terms, this workshop is to help set your assets straight if you were to get in a position where you can no longer physically communicate your needs, or you have passed away. For those newer to the US, this Legal Workshop will be educational and beneficial to attend.
This workshop is an opportunity to learn about estate planning from an attorney who has helped families from all walks of life in an educational, low pressure setting.
The workshop will cover the legal process known as “estate planning.” Broadly speaking, estate planning has five parts:
1. Choosing people to make decisions for you if you can’t make them yourself
2. Choosing who will get your property when you pass away
3. Making sure the people who you have chosen to receive your property actually get it
4. Minimizing taxes and expenses after you pass away
5. Making sure there is someone to take care of your children if they are still minors.
Everyone needs to have an estate plan, but many people do not. There are many reasons for this. Some of the main ones are: a belief that only the very old or the very rich need an estate plan, finding an attorney, and knowing what to ask the attorney.
Tea and coffee will be provided for this event. This workshop is a great opportunity to find out what happens to your belongings and loved ones after you may pass away or get severely ill.
No need to sign up, just show up!
