Add the right spices to the drink
Learn the history of the drink
Try different varieties of this New Year’s drink.
Tickets for the class are $25!
If you purchase a class ticket, you do not need an entrance ticket to our market!
A message from @dvadaite: “Since 2017, we, the Daite Dva project, have been brewing mulled wine every year at New Year’s fairs in Ukraine. For us, mulled wine in winter is not a drink, but something more than a Christmas tree We approach its production not as a work in progress, but as a work of art. Every year we try to invent something interesting: it concerns the serving of the drink, its shape (one year we made it in the form of jelly) and taste. We are very glad that we can take our cause to Colorado and teach others. See you at the annual Ukrainian market!

Holodomor Remembrance Day
Fourth Saturday of November is Holodomor Remembrance Day in Ukraine. On that day Ukrainians throughout the world pause to honor the millions of innocent victims of Holodomor, man-made famine, orchestrated by the Soviet Union under the leadership of Joseph Stalin in 1932-1933.
For decades the Soviet regime suppressed any information about the Holodomor. But after the fall of the Soviet Union, the world learned about the genocidal atrocities committed against the Ukrainian people, and today nearly 50 countries recognize it.
We must never forget these innocent victims. Please join the Ukrainian-American community of Colorado as we honor their memory.

Mariupol Before and After: Our Family’s Story
The Global Village Museum of Arts and Cultures of Fort Collins, CO has reached out to Ukrainians of Colorado to promote an event know as: Mariupol Before and After: Our Family’s Story. It is important for us to acknowledge and understand the true horrors and struggles Ukrainians have endured.
This story will be presented from 6-7:30 pm Thursday, June 13th, at the Global Village Museum of Arts and Cultures by Stephen Connacher, a former resident of the city who now lives in Fort Collins.
“As a local resident of Mariupol from 2016-2021, I witnessed the port city undergo a wondrous transformation and become a vibrant European city,” says Connacher. “But in early 2022, Russia massacred Mariupol, turning the city into an international symbol of death and destruction. My mother, Ludmila, endured 73 days of attack, siege, occupation, and filtration before a miraculous escape and journey to Fort Collins. I will tell her personal story of survival through those unimaginable 10 weeks, complete with extensive footage.”
Tickets to the presentation are $5 per person, and reservations are required via the following link.
We hope you will join us and support their story!

Estate Planning Legal Workshop
On Saturday, April 6th, 10 am to 1 pm at the East Community Center in Littleton, Colorado, an estate planning attorney, Alex Kirven, will lead us in a workshop to inform us on the importance of estate planning.
In short terms, this workshop is to help set your assets straight if you were to get in a position where you can no longer physically communicate your needs, or you have passed away. For those newer to the US, this Legal Workshop will be educational and beneficial to attend.
This workshop is an opportunity to learn about estate planning from an attorney who has helped families from all walks of life in an educational, low pressure setting.
The workshop will cover the legal process known as “estate planning.” Broadly speaking, estate planning has five parts:
1. Choosing people to make decisions for you if you can’t make them yourself
2. Choosing who will get your property when you pass away
3. Making sure the people who you have chosen to receive your property actually get it
4. Minimizing taxes and expenses after you pass away
5. Making sure there is someone to take care of your children if they are still minors.
Everyone needs to have an estate plan, but many people do not. There are many reasons for this. Some of the main ones are: a belief that only the very old or the very rich need an estate plan, finding an attorney, and knowing what to ask the attorney.
Tea and coffee will be provided for this event. This workshop is a great opportunity to find out what happens to your belongings and loved ones after you may pass away or get severely ill.
No need to sign up, just show up!

Book Tour THE STORY OF UKRAINE: An Anthem of Glory and Freedom with Ukrainians of Colorado
Join Thornton Barnes & Noble on Saturday 4/29 at 2PM as we welcome New York Times bestselling author Michael Sampson for a discussion of his timely new bi-lingual children's picture book, THE STORY OF UKRAINE: An Anthem of Glory and Freedom. This event will be hosted in partnership with local organization Ukrainians of Colorado. Information about the author and the book can be found below:
As a Fulbright scholar to Ukraine during the Russian invasion this past year, Michael Sampson reported on his work in The Chicago Tribune, The New York Post, The New York Daily News, The Tampa Bay Times, School Library Journal, The Horn Book Magazine, and NPR. While attending peace rallies in Warsaw, he heard people singing the Ukrainian national anthem. Michael was moved by the passion and love the people singing had for Ukraine and contemplated how he might replicate that same passion and love on a global scale.
Michael Sampson and Olena Kharchenko teamed up with the mission to write a book for children and families around the world to help them to feel connected while also teaching Ukraine's history.
The Ukrainian national anthem was written in the 1860’s about fighting for freedom then, and unfortunately, it is very true once again in 2022 with the Russian invasion. This book is meant to help parents share the story of Ukraine and for teachers to move students to deeper discussions about democracy and freedom.
Olena and Michael connected with Ukrainian publisher, Old Lion Publishing House, to help get this book printed in Ukraine as well. Their response was the exact sentiment that Michael and Olena had hoped to evoke with this book: "thank you for standing with us."
